About Us

Habla Health is a new 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in SW Florida and dedicated to the mission of improving the health status in people of Hispanic descent. Our initial service areas concentrate on Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Chicago, and with plans to expand to an additional 10 metropolitan statistical areas (‘MSAs”). The Habla Health team is made up of dedicated individuals who have spent their careers in the healthcare field. We include pharmacists, physicians, nurses and consultants, all of whom share a passion for helping end the disparity of healthcare access and services, with the goal of improving health status in Latino communities.

Working Together for Change

We work alongside a team of healthcare providers, patient advocates, and educators to help facilitate the shift that will encourage better choices and make it easier for Hispanic children and their families to enjoy a healthier life.

Our Primary Focus

Diabetes

The prevalence and incidence of diabetes among the Hispanic populations in the United States are significantly higher than the national average. Factors such as sociocultural, economics, decreased access to health care, and genetic susceptibility to obesity and higher insulin resistance play major roles in determining health status. Habla Health focuses on understanding the healthcare needs of Hispanic populations living in the United States from a multidisciplinary approach.

Obesity

Obesity is the root of all healthcare evil! U.S residents suffer from this epidemic, and it is particularly harmful in Hispanic communities. Almost 50% of the total U.S population are affected.

Diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer can many times, claim obesity as a primary cause. Diet, physical activity, and body image are three of the many factors relative to obesity.

Obesity and Diabetes are epidemic in the United States. Hispanic communities have been hard-hit due to numerous reasons, including inequity in healthcare and resources that can impact health status.

Existing programs and approaches have been insufficient. New methods of communication, education and intervention are necessary if we hope to really make a difference.

Why Support Habla Health's Mission?

Diabetes is an epidemic killer and is fueled by obesity, many times from establishing harmful patterns in childhood.

Together, we can do something about it! Habla Health brings the latest disease management approaches and applies technology and evidence-based Standards of Care to reduce the prevalence of diabetes, obesity, and improve overall health status and quality of life to Hispanic-Americans.
